CHCD was made as an opportunity for all homeschooled children to participate in the arts of choir and drama while staying in a Christian environment.

Choir
Songs: TBA—We will work more on two-part harmony this semester
Practice Time: Wednesday, 1pm-2pm
Ages: 6-18
Time Frame: (More to be announced at the parent meeting)
Parent Meeting—August 27th at 1:30
Class starts--September 3rd
Classes end—November 5th
Performances: November 12, 19 and the 21st (Tentatively)
Choir will have a shorter time frame then drama since it’s not as involved. There will be 2-3 performances at senior citizen homes and then a main performance for friends and family. I hope to have the dates and times set by the parent meeting.
Tuition: $5 a class/per kid. PLUS the cost of music (~$12) (Paid by month or in full. Price does not include performances. There will be 10 classes totaling $50. If you will have 3 or more children participating talk to me about a discount.)
Place: Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church
4435 West 112th Avenue
Westminster, Colorado 80030
(This is a different location then last year because Rocky Mountain Church will be under construction. We might move back to Rocky Mountain once they are done, which will hopefully be in November.)
Drama
o This semester the drama group will be performing an entire play with costumes, props, and backgrounds. Some fundraising will be needed, but I already own a lot of the stuff for this play. All the details will be explained at the parent meeting.
o Children will need to prepare for a try-out. They can perform a memorized monologue, poem, short story, or Bible verse. I will be looking mostly at how well they can memorize, as well as facial expressions and hand/body movement. Each child will have a limit of 5 minutes each. Feel free to ask me for suggestions. Try-out times will be determined at the parent meeting.
o All children will be accepted, but there are only a few main roles and I have the hard job of choosing 1 person for that role. Those who receive a role as an “extra” will play dual roles with a very few lines within the play. BUT, since we cannot take this play “on-the-road”, those playing the extras will be given a role in a short skit which will be performed at the senior citizen homes and main performance along with the choir group (March 21st—tentatively).
Play: “For Such a Time as This—the Story of Esther”
Practice Time: Wednesday, 2pm-3pm
Ages: 6-18
Time Frame: (More to be announced at the parent meeting)
Parent Meeting—August 27th at 1:30
Try-outs--September 3rd, during practice time.
Performance March 6th (Tentative) (March 10th is the feast of Purim in which the Jews celebrate the story of Esther, called the “Feast of Lots”. This play was taken from the Biblical account, and so I will be teaching about the story of Esther and the Jewish holiday will be included into the classes.)
Tuition: $8 a class/per kid. (Paid by month or in full. Price does not include performance. There will be a total of 25 classes totaling $200. If you have 3 or more children participating, talk to me about a discount.)
